Ok so...Its weird to say this but it is true. A girl’s first love is usually her dad. Now I don’t mean this in the paedophile like manner but I am talking about the pure love she learns to measure other men by as she grows up.
At the tail end of last year my contract with my previous employers came to a rather interesting end. There are different versions as to why my employment ended with the previous employers but when it is all said and done I left that job rather abruptly. In view of that I have had to start building my life in Nigeria all over again. Finding a new house, getting a car and learning to hop in hire purchase vehicles in the mean time and even now finding a new source of income as I am adamant not to lower my standards or should I say now live the lifestyle that I was accustomed to before I took the previous job I had. Employment in Nigeria has left a bad taste in my mouth and has made me vow to do two things here after: one. Never work for as an employee ever again. Two. Bring the ‘investors in people’ accreditation to Nigeria to ensure employees are given a preview of the sort of employers they are going to work for before they make changes to their lives.
Even with all that said since yesterday well wishing friends and family members have been sending me vacancy notices of tempting job offers and I have to admit I am really starting to find it difficult to say no.

As I read this; as much as I don’t want to go back into corporate Nigeria anymore it made me smile to think my dad would go as far as to type up a cover letter for a job vacancy for me. It also made me realise that the hazard of a fathers love as a girl becomes of age because the love he shows me as his daughter should come with a warning sign that reads: BEWARE NOT ALL MEN WILL LOVE YOU SO!
I remember a few years ago I had a problem with an ex-boyfriend and I told my dad about it and he said ‘remember the song when a man loves a woman?’ ‘Well any man that does not measure up to that song and says he loves you is a liar – that is the standard’. But really daddy, I think I would struggle especially in Nigeria (or the rest of the world) to find a man that would trade the world for me, be oblivious to my bad, turn his back on his best friend and sleep out in the rain...just for me.
Lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LMAF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But carefully now as I read through the lyrics of this song I think I find the answer to love’s dilemma it says ‘When a man loves a woman...he can never own another girl!’. It makes me wonder if I have been loving men whose heart were long stolen by other women.... hmmm saleh!
Till we meet again dear readers ponder on these lyrics:
When a man loves a woman
Can't keep his mind on nothing else
He'll trade the world
For the good thing he's found
If she's bad he can't see it
She can do no wrong
Turn his back on his best friend
If he put her down
When a man loves a woman
Spend his very last dime
Tryin' to hold on to what he needs
He'd give up all his comfort
Sleep out in the rain
If she said that's the way it ought to be
Well, this man loves a woman
I gave you everything I had
Tryin' to hold on to your precious love
Baby, please don't treat me bad
When a man loves a woman
Down deep in his soul
She can bring him such misery
If she plays him for a fool
He's the last one to know
Lovin' eyes can't ever see
When a man loves a woman
He can do no wrong
He can never own some other girl
Yes when a man loves a woman
I know exactly how he feels
'Cause baby, baby, baby, you're my world
When a man loves a woman.....

Hmm a tough one that song is! God can bring such a man though! Nicely written post! Reminds me of my dad!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, the tough (but, achievable) duty (oops, essence) of love.
ReplyDeleteFathers (& mothers) are the sure people we can always 'fall' back on.
